An awful valentine story

This is another ordinary day. Nothing different than the usual days that we have. For a single woman like me, that is.

I was on my usual TV series marathon mode and went on to watch Grey’s Anatomy’s Valentine episode. It was so tragic, I just have to share it. For me, the episode should have been entitled “Ironic.”

Part of the episode was about a couple. Valentines day is supposed to be a happy day. However, for them, it turned out to be the worst.

They have been living in together for quite some time already. The woman, for years, have been expecting that her boyfriend will pop the question. And for years she had been consistently disappointed. This time, she drew the line. “If he doesnt propose this valentines day, I will leave him.”

Then came V-Day. One moment they were having one of their perfect breakfast together, and the next they were on an ambulance on their way to the hospital. The girlfriend was shouting her lungs out, telling him how angry she was because he didnt propose to her. She was a nuisance not only to her pained boyfriend but also to the people around.

He was involved in a drive by accident. It was after she ran out of the house, angry for not getting the proposal she expected. He went running after her and in the process got himself ran over by a vehicle.

The doctors did all that they can for the guy and yet he didnt survive. When he was in his most critical condition, the girlfriend was begging her doctors to cure him. She was telling them that she doesnt care about the proposal anymore. All she wants is for him to be cured and just be alive. Fate however was cruel that day, she wasnt given what she wanted. As was the case with the proposal, or so she thought.

While Little Grey was tidying up the patient’s clothing. She saw the locket that he initially gave to his girlfriend at breakfast that morning. Intrigue got the best of Little Grey. She went on opening the heart locket. Both sides of the space inside composed a sentence. A sentence enough to call for a celebration. But turned out to bring a lifetime of grief and suffering.

It says, “Will you marry me?”
