In most of my spare time, I always think of what if I won a multi-million lottery? What will I do with the money? I always tell my sister that. And she always say “How can you win if you don’t bet?” Yeah, how can I win if I don’t. The thing is, I really wish I could.
Makati-Alabang-Libis: One multi-location day with Buding
29 FebThis will be a post about my best buddy and dudette Esther’s second to last day in the Philippines before she leaves for work outside of the country.
I actually owe her a lot because the day prior to this, we were supposed to meet in my apartment’s lobby. The traffic in EDSA was more than unforgivable that she was stuck in it for more than an hour. My fault was, I scheduled another meet-up after this meeting. So Buding ,as I fondly call Esther, ended up waiting for me for a couple of hours after she got to the lobby.
To make up for it, the next day I had her visit one of my favorite food places. Where else but in the weekend market in Salcedo, Makati!
This is what we had. Yummy Ineng’s BBQ’s and some good ole frankfurters.
After Makati, we headed for Alabang to meet up with Sheryl, my paryente-friend.
We stayed in the Festival Mall foodcourt. Before that we walked around for a bit. And then when I saw the kwek kwek stand, I cannot stop myself from buying some. Buding went to ate some as well. Again, pictures for posterity’s sake.
After some wait time, Sheryl came! We went to Tokyo Tokyo to eat some rice bowls.
This was what I had.
This was Buding’s.
And this was Sheryl’s.
After some time of exchanging stories, mostly related to work experiences, we decided to go to the arcade. When we entered I saw this girl. I was super fascinated by how good she was! See from the photos below.
Most of the time I cannott reach 50 in this shooting hoops game! Whoa!
The next photo was a tad bit late because when I was ready to take it, the kid that was supposedly occupying that empty chair stood up. Could have been a perfect photo. Kids of the new world.
After enough time spent with Sheryl and after more than 200php worth of tokens, we called it a day. We left Sheryl to go on her way. The next thing on the agenda wasnt really part of the original plan. I just wanted to show Buding the place where I used to work and have her taste some Happy Lemon heaven. When we got there, I remembered there was also the weekend Eastwood Mall market. I literally grabbed some Cukays to go!
We were a little bit tired for going to three places in one day but our tummies and hearts were happy.
This made me hopeful again
28 FebThis morning I sent a birthday greeting to somebody. I dont usually do this , I mean I dont do usually sent birthday greetings to everyone. So I wanted it to be something other than the ordinary. Ordinary means the easiest and the usual thing people do when they want to greet you, post a text greeting on your socia media wall.
So I thought of uploading a picture with a greeting instead. Here is what I found. It made me smile and again hopeful.
Dinner with Joyful and Erks and My Sonja’s Experience
26 FebOn my long quest of finding a new job, I sometimes meet up with friends. This day was one of them.
That eventful Friday, after an interview, I met up with Joy and Erick. The most beautiful couple I have ever met, both inside and out.
From McKinley where they were working and where I had my interview, we went to Market Market to shop for Baby Ikay. After which we went to Boni High Street for some dinner and more quality time. This is probably my 4th or 5th time in Contis. I always come back because not only is the food great, its also worth every penny and every minute of wait.
While waiting for dinner, we decided to go out for some unique dessert. Where else to go but Sonja’s! I admit this is my first time to go to this cafe but it was not the first time I have heard about it. Below are some pictures we took.
The moment we stepped in, there was only 2 or 3 people in it. We were supposed to be the next ones in line but because we havent decided what to order yet, we had the lady next to us go first. We later on learned that that decision was a mistake because the lady ordered for a whole town!
What actually took most of our time was while deciding what to order, we were at the same time busy taking pictures of the pretty cupcakes! These pictures didnt do them any justice. Promise. They are more beautiful in person.
And for posterity’s sake, Im glad Joyful offered to take a picture of me with the cafe’s logo.
After getting our orders packed, we went back to the restaurant.
Here was our dinner. I had my usual ribs. Love love love!
This was Joyful’s and Erks dinner. That salmon was superb! Super super delish!
There was a lot of surprises while we were dining. The first thing that came was free soup! The waitress gave that to Erick as complimentary. All the while I was thinking it was part of what he ordered. After some stories and laughs, we were seeing a lot of the infamous Mango Bravo dessert going out from the kitchen. Everybody was ordering it. Before we knew it, the waitress was again serving us a big slice of the dessert. Again, complimentary ones! I dont know what happened here. Was it because she found Erks cute? Was it because she found me pathetic third wheeling with the cute couple? Or was it simply because they were just that generous? Whatever was the reason, thank you Contis for the great food, great service and for all the complimentary gifts!
Thank you Joyful and Erks for dinner!! I enjoyed it tremendously!
Here was my loot. I ate at least one cupcake for each of the next 3 days. I cant really say it was the best cupcake I ever had. Believe me, I have had my fare share of what’s available in the market. Some are even not known to everyone. One thing I observed though, Sonja’s cupcakes are much much denser than the other ones. And true to what Joyful said, they remained delicious even if they were inside the fridge for a couple of days.
3rd Philippine Pyromusical Competition
26 FebThis is starting to be an annual tradition for me, I just realized.
Last February 18, 2011 I met up with friends I have not seen for quite a while. We initially wanted to get dinner together but we ended up watching the 3rd Philippine Pyromusical Competition. We werent late because the show did not start before we went in the arena at 7:30pm though we can be considered as tardy. A lot of people were already at the silver area. We werent able to get a good viewing spot so what we really experienced was not the best look of the show. I was partly at fault of this because I decided not to study the map of the event. Rather, I leaned on my previous experience. Silver tickets does not provide the same location as before. And it doesnt provide the same fun experience.
Lesson learned: To enjoy the show, get better tickets next time.
This day wasnt just about the fireworks show. It was more of friendships and learning from one another’s experiences. I love my friends. They always always give me hope.
Here is a picture from Arli girl who decided to remove her long lashes without having us see it. More photos in her facebook page!
Gerger treated us to some Cinnabon love, maraming salamat for it friend!!
This is not a unique event but it can promote DOT’s new campaign. They just have to figure out how.
This is the logo for this year’s competetion. Pretty.
If you want to see the show for yourself it’s still ongoing! Details can be seen from this site http://www.pyrophilippines.com/. This is also where I got the snapshots above and below this text. Here are the countries participating this year.
Here are my previous posts about this event.

Everything was stained….
This was the doormat… Speaks a lot…….
This is Dental City, Megamall
And the thing was, while the doctor was cleaning my teeth, a sales representative came bearing gifts and samples. In the middle of the procedure, my dentist went out to get the goods all the while leaving me with my mouth open and my cleaning one thirds done. So, Im not going back. Never. And I highly suggest that you dont as well.
This isn’t a paid ad but Hollywood Smiles in Robinsons Galleria is nice.
When I was in the middle of my appointment, a sales rep came. The dentist told the receptionist to have the sales rep wait because he’s attending to a client. Now that’s professionalism! Kudos to Hollywood Smiles!
